The term Aethiopian was also used at the time to describe un-inhabitable parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. ==Description== The Aethiopian Sea, Ethiopic Ocean or Ethiopian Ocean (Okeanos Aithiopos), is an old name for what is now called the South Atlantic Ocean. It is separated from the North Atlantic Ocean by a narrow region between Natal, Brazil and Monrovia, Liberia. Use of this term was analogous to referring to the continent of Africa by Aethiopia. The modern nation of Ethiopia in northeast Africa, is nowhere near the Ethiopic Ocean. The term Ethiopian Ocean appeared until the mid-19th century, as e.g. on the map ''The Dutch colony of the Cape of Good Hope by L.S. de la Rochette, MDCCXCV", published by W.
